Charity Navigator gives Meals on Wheels and More 4-Star rating for fiscal management
Austin, TX -- Charity Navigator, the nation's premiere charity evaluator, awarded Meals on Wheels and More its coveted 4-Star Rating for fiscal management in 2007. This marks the second year in a row that Meals on Wheels and More has received this rating, which is the organization's top honor.
Meals on Wheels and More earned the 4-Star rating because it has shown an exceptional ability to grow and manage its finances, said Trent Stamp, the executive director of Charity Navigator.
"Only 12 percent of the charities we've rated have received at least two consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that Meals on Wheels and More outperforms most charities in America in its efforts to operate in the most fiscally-responsible way possible," Stamp said. "This 'exceptional' designation from Charity Navigator differentiates Meals on Wheels and More from its peers and demonstrates to the public that it is worthy of their trust."
In 2005, Meals on Wheels and More spent 82 percent of its $4.2 million budget directly on its clients. Each day, 3,000 of our volunteers deliver more than 2,000 hot meals to the homebound elderly and disabled individuals in the greater Austin community.
Charity Navigator's evaluation methods have been widely recognized in many mainstream media outlets for their reliability. The organization evaluates more charities than any of its competitors in an effort to give donors essential information about the charities to which they contribute.
