First Annual Senior Pet Fair!

On Saturday, April 5th, MOWAM joined Emancipet , Blue Dog Rescue and the Town Lake Animal Center to sponsor our first-ever Senior Pet Fair, which provided free spay and neuter and health screening services for the pets of our homebound elderly and disabled clients!
Throughout the day, we served almost 35 clients and almost 45 cats and dogs! (Watch a video segment on KXAN!)

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the day such a success. To many of our isolated and homebound clients, who have little to no human interaction on a day-to-day basis, pets are a daily source of comfort and companionship and help stave off feelings of depression and loneliness. For those individuals who are not mobile enough to get their furry friend the medical prevention treatment it needs to both live a healthy life and meet city and county vaccination requirements, services like these are necessary.
MOWAM also operates a regular program called PALS, which provides free pet food to our clients. This program is currently in need of some community support, as we are running very low on food supplies! If you are interested in donating, sponsoring, or learning more, please email us or call 476-6325 and ask for the PALS Coordinator.
